An absolutely fantabulous film by Alain Resnais -- art film if you wish -- that surpasses anything I've seen, going back at least scores of years to La Dolce Vita. Which it surpasses IMO. Imdb gives it only 6.4. But I would give it about 15 on a scale of 10. It is an amazingly imaginative retelling of the Orpheus and Eurydice tale with close up camera work of outstanding quasi-concert performances by each of a large cast of characters. There are scenes where I was absolutely transported out of my seat into the screen and I can't rave enough about it. It is a movie you won't forget. I don't think it will be shown around much, so grab it if you can.
