As a new mystery writer I am often wondering what most people actually prefer. I have chosen light hearted with my first book in a my series, Peaches and the Gambler. Was this the right choice?

I can never figure out any mysteries, so I just read them through. Therefore I like mysteries which are interesting stories in themselves. (Agatha Christie is boring.)
Depends on how it's written. I know I prefer harder crime/mystery, but if it's written well, lighthearted can be great too.As a new mystery writer I am often wondering what most people actually prefer.
