Gone series?

How good is the Gone series by Michael Grant?
I've heard that it is really good and it sounds good too but I'm not too sure. I've thought books sounded good before and they turned out to be not as good as I thought they would be leaving me disappointed
Any opinions would be useful.

I actually liked it. I've read the first book two months ago and I was surprised on how much I liked it. I guess that in this case it depends on your personal preferences. All the characters are under 15 years old and there are some violent scenes.
