Some neat history to go along with the image above:

The Black Witch was a two masted Brigantine of roughly 80 Feet stem to stern and served as the flagship of the motley Black Fleet. She was noted for not only her great speed and manueverability, but for the overabundance of armaments. Instead of the standard 12 guns typical to the design, the Black Witch boasted 16 guns, two of which were full sized cannons firing 42 lb. balls. These were mounted in the rear of the ship and were used primarily in one of Alexander's favorite tactics. He would hit quickly with a single broadside run firing the seven port side demi-cannons and then continuing on past the enemy ship's bow he would fire the two heavy cannons at close range as the Black Witch sped away. By the time the Witch turned back around to unleash its other seven cannons the enemy ship would be all but splinters. Alexander stained the sails of the ship Black to hide it at night and the ship was rumored to be constructed of solidified shadows that seemed to undulate under the moonlight. Just as he had on land, Alexander was famous for using the Black Witch to its best effect during nights of the new moon, when no light shone. Several stories of boats set adrift with no sign of habitation aside from a light coating of ash on the deck were reported. This is where Alexander gained his infamous nickname, The Black Tide.

So wrong, Lovecraftian!!

I didn't sleep for a week after reading It. When I saw that, the only thing that came to mind was Pennywise. No sleep for me tonight!

He can. I'm always disappointed to reach the end of his books because I find the endings usually so anti-climatic as opposed the the rest of the book leading up to it. I have always stated that the journey of his stories far outweigh their final destination.
