Has this thread already been done before?
I did a search for "DVD" & "DVDs" and didn't come up with anything.

So, what was your last DVD buy? Why? Why that DVD and not this DVD?

I just got Memoirs of a Geisha today because it was on sale for $10. I really liked the movie anyway (the women & costumes, etc. are beautiful!), my boyfriend still hasn't seen it, & I can see myself watching it several more times in the future.

I don't think it has been done before, but don't quote me.

My last DVD purchase was Kermit's Swamp Years. You would think I bought this for the kid, but I didn't. My husband and I are Muppet fans, so we buy a lot of the movies. This one is not as good as some of the others. It really seems to be geared toward little kids, whereas the more traditional Muppet movies have a lot of adult humor.

Ah well .... being a HUGE BOND fan .... I did of course buy the DVD, the day it came out ..... Casino Royale

But .. well I had already seen the film 4 times, one of those times being at the Premiere at Leicester Square :) :) :) :)

The last DVDs I bought were:

  • Three Colours Red
  • Three Colours Blue
  • Three Colours White
  • Wilbur (Wants To Kill Himself)
  • The Brown Bunny
  • The King Is Alive
  • Julien Donkey-Boy
  • Lady Vengeance

Last few ones I bought were Last Temptation of Christ, Slither, Container, Halloween and... um... Bring It On. Hey, hangover movies are movies too.

Casino Royale
Children of Men

And now for additions to my ever growing library of 70's/80's eurosleaze:

Gestapo's Last Orgy ~ the most repugnant of the 70's Italian nazisploitation films. If someone would've told me 10 years ago that I would be watching a restored widescreen print of this movie I would've laughed in their face. I love when trashy exploitation movies get the good treatment.

Black Emanuelle's Box ~ a nice boxset of 3 Laura Gemser Emanuelle films: Emanuelle in Bangkok(the ping pong ball scene in this was a real eye opener when I saw it as a teen on Skinemax), Emanuelle Around the World, and Sister Emanuelle. Also includes a cd of music taken from all the releases.

Why? It's a fantastic film.

To each their own. I didn't like it. It's extremely dull for the first hour or so of its runtime, and I was bored to death just watching Bud Clay drive all over America. That said, the last thirty minutes or so are good, and Chloë Sevigny turned in a consummate performance. Unfortunately, this didn't save The Brown Bunny, and the film didn't work for me.

Not so much dull as tedious, I think. But fully understandable. My thoughts on the film were butchered here by the previous moderators.

i bought casino royale, which was really good. it's too long, but daniel craig is the best bond. i wish they had more ass beating in it, like bourne identity, but i can't complain.

Just got Marie Antoinette (which I have yet to watch, but heard it was good) and Strip Tease (loved the book, hoped the movie would be good too...nope). Got Hoot for the kid to watch when she gets older (after I have read the book to her). Haven't watched that one yet either.

  • Three Colours Red
  • Three Colours Blue
  • Three Colours White

Saw those ages ago and would love to see them again. I didn't realize they were available on DVD, but that is probably because the movie places around here pretty much only carry kids movies and new releases.

Ooh! I just saw that for the first time earlier this month. It was nice... I'm not a Kirsten Dunst fan, but it was really really pretty! Lots of beautiful bright colors & the costumes are amazing! Pay close attention to the shoe scene!

My friend who lent me the DVD also lent me the book by Antonia Fraser which it was based on. I've yet to start reading it.

I bought Twitch Of The Death Nerve this morning. I'm surprised at myself I hadn't bought it yet.

My last DVD buying trip was well over a month ago now (damn this studying caper!). Anyway, that day which now seems eons ago yielded Empire Records, Donnie Darko Director's Cut/Theatrical Release Pack, A Few Good Men, and Ricky Gervais Live: Politics.

With any luck (and a visit from the cash fairy), I'll have some more to post soon.

EDIT: Ooh, I forgot Labyrinth.
