Evolution

Aye, the arguments from either side have changed very little since that summer of 1925. I fear it will eventually come to blows as we tackle the question of whether or not we as a species should do for ourselves what we have been doing for our livestock for tens of thousands of years and direct our development artificially.

Interesting times. :)

When the time comes, the only people that will be able to afford life extension therapy and intelligence boosting will be the ultra wealthy and I'm not sure I want them living forever.

At first, of course, but it will filter down from the elite to the huddled masses soon enough, as most things tend to do.

I am not sure the species is equipped to deal with the idea of existing indefinitely. So much of our wiring revolves around the certain knowledge that we will cease to be at some point that I worry about the long term effects of removing that limiting factor. Perhaps it would make true anarchy and all of the freedom that goes with it possible, perhaps it would turn us into a static, uninspired civilization, maybe a hive-mind society. :shrug

That's why I prefer the alternate belief system. It makes it easier to drag myself out of bed every morning.
