I have always been interested in writing, I write poetry, songs, etc. however I have always wanted to write a novel. A novel about something I know yet throw some fantasy into it to make it more interesting than what true witch craft is, lol. I want to take the popular vampire/human desire to dig into that realm & put a twist to it. I have many time over the years picked up pen & paper or taken to the computer. I however get busy with life, than health issues took me out of doing anything more than getting better & working.
I am looking to see if anyone else feels the way I do, like I know what I want to write & it seems I will start to write & sometimes my ideas are all over the place not in any type of order...than I get discouraged because I feel like it should flow in order, etc...does anyone else write parts of their books that are part of the story line but not until much later in the book, will it eventually all come together?
I'm open to any advice, help, etc...that anyone is willing to give.
Thank you
April

Unfortunately whichever way you slice the cake at some point you have to sit down and write it. Keeping notes etc is a good way to keep ideas but they will always just remain notes and bits of that novel you intended to write unless you sit down in front of a computer and put them all into some kind of coherent form.

Hello,

May I suggest you just start and keep at it . Write whatever comes to you. Don't worry about order or chapters. Just get into the groove. You obviously have a story if it has bothered you for so many years but you are not able to start it; it is sort of tangled in your mind. But if you keep writing everyday, and reread what you have written, it is bound to take shape. Many times I have reorganized a story after revisiting it.
Good luck.

You might want to try outlineing. Perhaps you have a few story lines crossed in your head. If you outline, you can tell if you have 1, 2, 3 or more stories to tell and beat them back into their corners. Then, you should be able to take one thread and run with it.
Best way to get better at writing is to do it. People say do some every day, but I could never manage that. Set a reasonable goal for yourself. Pick a cause or something that really appeals to you, then describe it.
