Physical books have a certain charm that keeps me attached to them. I like the diversity in lay-out, font, cover, etc. I like that feeling of turning a page, I like physically seeing how far I am. I also like the look of a filled book case. I like the smell of books, the feel...
Some books I enjoyed reading:
- Anything by Anthony Horowitz
- "Holes" by Louis Sachar
- "The curious incident with the dog in the night-time" by Mark Haddon
- Anything by Roald Dahl
I've had an e-reader for a little over a year or so now. I only download e-books for free, because for the price they're sold I might as well get the physical book. E-books can never replace physical books for me - I still like the feel of them, the smell, the diversity in sizes, fonts, lay-out...
I won't deny that escapism is part of the reason why I read, but it's not the main reason.
First of all, I like to know things. Not necessarily facts, but just what different places are like, or can be like in the minds of authors. I also like to read how characters react to the situations...

The career isn't set in stone, but I do like to have a general idea of where I'm going, and in general I just like having a plan. I'm not really one of those people who can just jump into the dark, unfortunately.

The Queen's Man by Sharon Kay Penman is medieval and involves weapons, but it's not all sword-fighting, and there aren't any bows and arrows in it. But if you enjoy a good historical crime/detective story, this one really is recommendable.
