    Finally!

We were at Barnes & Nobel at midnight Friday night! DS stayed up all night to read it, then gave it to me. I got to Christmas on Saturday, but haven't had a chance to read yet today.

    Tamora Pierce: Alanna

As I recall, at first he seemed too old for her, but her experiences made her end up more mature than him, until the final battle when they finally both came into their own.

    the hours

I read the book but haven't seen the movie. The book was hard to get into, very Virginia-Smith-esque, going off into intricate detail about minor details (as our minds do in any situation), so that the story wasn't so much... linear. But when I finished, it had invaded my mind, lol, and I...

    The Bourne Identity Movie

Bourne "Bourne Supremacy" is the name of the book's sequel. They must be making a movie sequel from the book sequel.

Alice Sebold: The Lovely Bones *spoilers*

I got it from the library too. I finished it on my commute home today. It'll make you think. Perhaps shed a tear.

Alice Sebold: The Lovely Bones *spoilers*

I didn't think I'd like this book, but I'm having a hard time putting it down. It begins with a girl (12yo, I think) in heaven. She's been murdered, but is not upset by it. She's more interested in watching her family and murderer afterwards, and in understanding her heaven, in which she's...

Yankee Women: Gender Battles in the Civil War by E D Leonard

This book was an interesting reflection. Before the war, we were living with Victorian ideas of gender. Women were frail, emotional, self-sacrificing, and nurturing. They were seen as adept at managing the home sphere, but inept in the larger business or world sphere. When the war came...

    incest novels

I didn't see the Cider House Rules movie either. I read the book in summer 2001 while traveling.

    Historical Novels

Sounds like you mean historical non-fiction... not fiction? I haven't read much of either, but am interested!

    incest novels

THAT'S the one that was made into a movie with Jody Foster. The only incest I remember in "Cider House Rules" was the foreman raping his daughter. That was icky.

    Cool. WitchChild! :)

    incest novels

I find the idea repulsive as well. That's why I didn't go see that movie Jody Foster was in... "Hotel"?

    Fairy tale? Impossible to find...

It doesn't ring a bell to me. What country was she in when she heard it? That might help your search. Also, you can post a note in the children/teen forum on the site in my siggy. Maybe someone there can help. Good luck!
