Orange Broadband Prize for Fiction 2008

I am halfway through reading The End of Mr Y and it is fabulous! I hope it continues to be so for the rest of the book.

H.P.& The Deathly Hallows midnight party-to go or not to go?

I am hoping to go to my local waterstones to have a party - but I am in two minds, I would hate for someone horrid to read the last page or something and ruin it for the whole shop! Maybe I should just believe that most people are not that horrible!

    J.R.R. Tolkien

This is exactly why I re-read The Lord of the Rings so often! I always notice small things that I have missed before. It is my favourite book - and I have lots of other Tolkien books to read too, including The Silmarillion which I am looking forward to getting round to reading very soon after...

    May Reads

I liked the bits that I have read - it does move very slowly though so not an awful lot seems to have happened so far. I will read the rest of it - but it will take a little while to get through I think

    May Reads

Only finished two books this month - Sleeping Murder and The ABC murders both by Agatha Christie. Read part one on Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell but the book fell to pieces so I will have to wait to read the rest.

    J.R.R. Tolkien

This could also be described as heavy going if you don't get on with the style of writing though. I agree that there is nothing too difficult about the writing itself in The Lord of the Rings, but a lot of people I know don't get on with Tolkien's style of writing in general.

    J.R.R. Tolkien

I have only read The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and Tales from the Perilous Realm. I would recommend any of them, although as has been said before The Lord of the Rings is heavy going at times, The Hobbit is much easier to read and Tales from the Perilous Realm is a great collection of short...

I would do that but I have difficulty concentrating on most books at the best of times, so I don't think I would get on with trying to concentrate on more than one at a time (let alone four like you!)

I always have real problems deciding which book to read next, and my friends and boyfriend are sick of choosing for me! So which one of the following books would you read next if you had the choice? "A Wizard of Earthsea" - Ursula Le Guin "The Clan of the Cave Bear" - Jean M. Auel or...

    Your age

I was 13 or 14 I think - my brother had them when they first came out and then they got passed to my sister and then to me. After the first 4 being borrowed from my brother I moved out so I had to buy my own copies - I love reading them, and I don't think it matters whether they are meant for...

How do you find the time?

Since September I have been reading quite a lot for Uni - so that is why my book count has been a little higher than normal. I also get a really long summer break, so when I am not working part time or working on things for uni, that time is usually spent reading too. Once I have to join the...

    Secret Santa 06?

To MonkeyCatcher Thank you so much for my gifts, I was going to wait until Christmas day to open it, but the temptation was too great! The book of short stories by New Zealand writers looks amazing, I will take it to work with me in case I get a quiet moment and have a read of it tonight...
