    Andrea Levy: Small Island

    Like many my age I soon forget what I have read but some things that are important to me in a book are all in Levi's "Small Island" Is the charaterisation so good as to make you have feelings , sympathy, love, hate etc, for the characters. Do I care what happens to them or that good old phrase...

    you dont show your location but I would say only an American would not know where Africa was. I was chatting with one in a chat room and she asked where I was and I said UK and she said well your English is very good. I do say this tounge in cheek so whethere you are American or Rumanian...

    Susanna Clarke: Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell

    I have read about a quarter of it. It is a very slow moving book and to me utterly boring. I have put it down. I may be brave enough to read it all through one day but, sorry I only read page turners regardles of genre, fact or fiction and a page-turner it certainly is not.:rolleyes: :rolleyes:

    John Steinbeck

    The Grapes of Wrath is a good read but I think the best one is East of Eden and of his lighter books the ones about Doc and the boys, Cannery Row and its sequel which I forget the name of are both very funny.
