I don't agree with that at all, although King is by no means a perfect writer. I also think you have a hot air balloon head. Someone should prick that.
Have you read his memoir? You quote and try to make a mockery of me, but instead of examples or citations you use blank, smartass commentary...
I gotta disagree with you here. But... you know... that's just like my opinion. I think Holden's personality comes out right on the first page, when he's going off on that david copperfield crap. I'll never forget that. :D
I'm pretty sure he's 19 now, but maybe 20. My step sister had his book when she visited the last summer, and I read a little bit of it. Eragon isn't a good book. Some people may find it an enjoyable, light read, but I certainly didn't. The characters are boring, the storyline is predictable, and...
I think a good place to start reading Hemingway is with To Have and Have Not. This is probably one of Hemingway's simpler works. It is more of an action story than anything, and it is packed with it. A good introduction to him without getting in too deep.
But if you do want to get in deep...
It's not fiction, but King's On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft is a great read. It has several entertaining anecdotes about his childhood and some stuff when he was older, like when he met his wife. Then the end of the book gives more helpful stuff on the actual act of writing.
Somehow, the...
I thought book 1 was ok, then book 2 started with a bang. Halfway through, book 2 got bogged down again and I just barely finished it. I have been unable to start book 3 thus far - for well over a year.
If I'm low on reading material, I'd rather just find some obscure short story collection...
Robert E. Howard, baby. No one kicks butt like Conan does. He can't be beat once he's backed into a corner you know. ;) He doesn't always expect to live, but he at least tries to do as much damage as he can before going down!
This thread reminds me of when I was in 9th grade. My class had finished all of our work on The Catcher in the Rye - the books were read, the essays were written, and the tests were taken. I had all these passages marked with torn little pieces of paper, probably like twenty of them, my favorite...
I don't think there should be a thing such as "required reading" for schools. Were I a teacher, I would present the students with a list of books to choose from, and each student could read what they please (similar to my 9th grade ap english class - great teacher). It would be a list with...
Well, MonkeyCatcher, jokingly or not, has degraded men in the exact same way by saying all of us are basketball fans. Then she later claims the statement to be a joke? Joke or not - not all men are basketball fans!
Stop the generalization of men, you cretins.
And I only generalized one...
Hey, I've said countless times that, one way or another, no one can prove anything here. I was just trying to represent one argument, which I probably overdid, but I am actually neutral towards the subject as a whole.
However, I don't think Kobe did it. I'd say 60% chance he didn't, 40% he...
Oh, in that case, everything I said was dead serious accept that the female was an attention whore.
Prove that my opinion is ignorant and piggish then. You can't. All you can do is drop names on me without any evidence.
Have you read my past hundred posts when I was saying neither side can even be proven? Hello?
Have you seen Rush Hour 2 when Jackie Chan is like: "Do you understand tha words tha are coming out of my mouf?!"
and Tucker says: "I can't even understand what you just said!"
Well, this is a...
For starters, this:
I never said. It's major hyberbole. Even if I did, it is just as wrong as saying the whole male population is basketball fans.
I barely even know what is going on in this thread any more it's so complex now. I just want the ceasefire! Bygones be bygones, etc. etc...
