Looking for an old Sci-Fi book/title

I also remember the first sentence of the book, or there about. It begins with some planes falling down, and whatnot, and then "Winston Churchill was looking through the window." That's the sentence. I remember this book, because the first page is extremely weird in the sense that it's out of...

Looking for an old Sci-Fi book/title

No, it's not Shade's Children, but thanks for helping. Some more things I remember about this mystery book is that it's sci-fi, but actually also a deep psychological book, as the children who are after the nuclear holocaust are 18-19, and experience their first love, etc.

Looking for an old Sci-Fi book/title

I'm having trouble finding the title and the author a science-fiction novel, but I do remember what the book was about: The action takes place after a nuclear holocaust. There is only twenty to forty teenagers that were preserved and grown by advanced robots prior to the holocaust. The...

So what is it about Harry Potter that you like?

Well I like HP for its "originality". Well, okay, maybe its not completely original, since JK Rowling did get a lot of her ideas from the Lord of the Rings and such, yet it's a very nice and compelling series of books that take place not so long ago and has a rich context to it, that I like to...

    HBP: Horcrux Parchment (SPOILER)

(American edition) On pg.609, chp.28, "Flight of the Prince" of the HBP, Harry rolls out a piece of parchment out of the locket he and Dumbledore found earlier in the book. "To the Dark Lord, I know I will be dead long before you read this but I want you to know that it was I who discovered...

Rate the new Potter book here

I liked the sixth one a lot. Explains a lot about Riddle, keeps you glued to the pages to find out who the hell the Half-Blood Prince really is, and well the last chapter was just so sad, I like it very much. If I had to rate the HP books for best to least favorite, it would go like this...

HP & HBP: Kids or Adult Cover

I don't favor books such as HP or LOTR that has real-pic covers such as the Adult version of HP6, I do prefer for ALL books to have illustrated covers, and quite favor the American version a lot, since I do enjoy looking at Mary Grandpre's work.

    Sub-Forums under Harry Potter

Hello fellow wizards, witches, and muggles I was wondering if it could be possible, if we created 6 (7 in the future) sub-forums under the Harry Potter forum, one for each book, self-titled of course, to just talk about one book in each forum to avoid confusion in this massive forum talking...

    Which Book-Cover Did You Buy?

Since I now live in USA, but lived in Europe beginning of my life, I purchased the first 3 HP's in the UK edition, they're okay, but I do think that the US Edition is by far the best, because they're large, you can take the cover off, and I think that Mary Grandpre's work on the US edtions of...

    Favorite Middle Earth Race

I have to say that the Wizards and Eagles are my favorite race. Gandalf and Saruman both are extraordinary and the Eagles, especially Gwaihir are majestic and brave.

    The Chamber of Secrets

Hey, I'm Crimson Eliot, new to the Book Forum, so excuse me for my novice skills. I do have a question about the second book in the Harry Potter series; The Chamber of Secrets. Now I know that in the old days, Godric Gryffindor, Salazar Slytherin, Helga Hufflepuff, and Rowena Rawenclaff...
