NETFLIX; What do you recommend to watch right now?

Not sure I can. ;) I've seen and enjoyed Dark Matter. I'm part way through Altered Carbon but not all that motivated to finish. Sparky, have you seen Good Omens yet?

NETFLIX; What do you recommend to watch right now?

I can't get myself to watch it. The fact it's based on a Neil Gaiman character is tempting, but I can't get past "the leads are incredibly good looking" part. I'm always leery about TV shows where everyone looks like they just walked off a fashion shoot.

Thanks for the DFW recommendation. I haven't read much Nordic Noir. The only Nordic/Scandi detective books I've read are the Stieg Larsson series, one by Peter Hoeg, and a couple by Jo Nesbo. I've quite enjoyed them, so will have to take a look at Anne Holt and Indridason.

Hello Peder, I'm doing very well. Thanks for asking. Since 2014 both sons got married (one in Hawaii - fun but logistically complicated) and we have an almost 3 year old grandson that we babysit from time to time. As far as books, I'm on the last of Robert Galbraith's series and have been...

Cormoran Strike series by Robert Galbraith

Hi Pontalba! The first three books have been turned into a TV mini-series by the BBC. It's being shown on HBO in Canada -- not sure about US.

Cormoran Strike series by Robert Galbraith

I’m really enjoying this series about private detective Cormoran Strike and his assistant Robin. Like most good detective series the relationship between Strike and Robin is as intriguing as their cases. I’m currently on the latest book of the series. For anyone interested, here’s the order...

NETFLIX; What do you recommend to watch right now?

Black Mirror. It’s an anthology series so it’s very easy to dip in and out of if not your thing. Third season just started.

    Good Omens

I’d recommend both. Roughly, it’s about an angel and demon coming together to prevent the Apocalypse. Irreverent but not sacreligious. Funny and serious at the same time. The series was only recently released (May 31) but I’m already rewatching it. I love the droll British humour and the little...

    Good Omens

Has anyone else both read the book and watched the adaptation of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s “Good Omens” on AmazonPrime? It’s a six part series starring Michael Sheen and David Tennant. Neil Gaiman was both showrunner and writer so the show has remained very faithful to the book. I...

I suppose I’m one of the old-timers who has drifted away. My last post was in 2014! I came by today because direstraits spoke fondly of this forum in a posting elsewhere. To address one of the questions in this thread about what has happened to the old members (and I’m sure everyone has their...

    Robert Plant

Umm, I think his hair's been long since the '60s and is naturally curly. And why do you think it's ridiculous? Would you think it less ridiculous if he shaved his head bald or had a buzz-cut or used hair straighteners?

    Sherlock: BBC TV Series

Maybe you'll have to take a peek when said 'grunter' is out of the room. :D I like Person of Interest, too. I just hope they're not writing themselves into a corner like Lost.

Is the internet being used too much by authors?

I think he means the name and date of birth of the author that the OP was originally researching. Authors' names and dates of birth, along with many celebrities and public figures are already out there.

    Sherlock: BBC TV Series

I enjoy Elementary, but other than the fact I like Johnny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu, it seems very much a standard, American episodic detective TV series. I can go weeks without watching and don't feel I've missed much. Pontalba, have you seen the second episode of Sherlock Season 3 yet? I...

Book recommendations on some genres, please? Pretty please?

It might be helpful if gave us an idea of what you've already read and either enjoyed or hated. Here are a few off the top of my head that I've liked: Dystopia: Oryx and Crake - Margaret Atwood Mystery/psychological thriller: The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo - Stiegg Larsson Science...
