The 39 Clues books are perfect for an avid reader about 7. My son just turned 8 and he loves these books. I'm at a complete loss as to what else to add though. I loved goosebumps and fear street books when I was a kid. Christopher Pike has some horror books, but those are more for teens...

I agree with the PP. It is hard to guess at the value of an old book with out seeing it first. I have a large collection of books printed before 1900, and most of them are worth less on the open market than a new paperback. If you are interested in selling it your best bet may be to...
