I need to know

So I just got a book for free and later found that it's a old book. When I mean old I mean 1854. I was wondering on how much it would sell for but I don't know how I could do that. Do you think you can tell me?

Depends on the title, condition, etc.

Just because a book is old, it doesn't mean it is worth anything.

I agree with the PP. It is hard to guess at the value of an old book with out seeing it first. I have a large collection of books printed before 1900, and most of them are worth less on the open market than a new paperback.

If you are interested in selling it your best bet may be to contact a rare book seller and they may be able to give you an idea of how much you could get for it. The real money is in 1st - 3rd editions depending on the book, author, original print run, how many are in circulation etc.
