    Indra Sinha: Animal's People

I have some kind of aversion as well to reading novels from India after struggling to read Arundhati Roy's book. But I tried checking out Animal's People and sampled the first few pages and I'm glad it's nothing like the former. It's something I would like to read in the future, once my pile of...

Declining Interest in Book of the Month

Yes maybe less books a year for BOTM as suggested by giddieon. Or I think we should have the Author of the Month more often. I think it's a good idea to let members explore authors who are established or whose work they don't usually read. But maybe give members 2 months to explore.

Carlos Ruiz Zafón: The Shadow of the Wind

Another love letter to literature that I've just read. The other one was The Thirteenth Tale. I agree with monkeycatcher. It wasn't particularly captivating but it was readable, enjoyable. The pace is quite relaxed. So might be a problem for those not so tolerant of that. As for me, this book...

    Diane Setterfield: The Thirteenth Tale

Wow, this book is such a captivating read that I can't wait to read it again! The story is still lingering in my mind. What I like about this book is that the story gives the opportunity for readers to experience it again. With its mix of love letter to reading and mystery, it just pulls you in.

    Man Booker Prize 2007

Wow, Mister Pip has really spurred my interest. I'm also looking forward to reading Animal's People and The Welsh Girl. Thanks Stewart and Shade. :) Since I can't get hold of Mister Pip yet, I thought of suggesting it for Nov's BOTM. How about it?

Hello! Need help with book title.

Hi reb! Coincidentally, I've just finished reading the book. What you're looking for is The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards. Hope it helps!

    Marian Keyes: Watermelon

I read it too. It's my first time reading a chick-lit novel actually but it's a bad experience. Couldn't finish it, made it through halfway though. :) I had problems with the whiny tone as well. I'm really grateful you spoiled the story for me, so I can now let it rest in peace and continue with...

What do bookworms do for exercise?

If I'm not involved with my bibliophile stuff, it would have something to do with music! I love music! What has that got to do with exercise? I dance! Nope, I do not have natural talent. I dance just for the pleasure of swaying and moving to my beloved music! Great workout, and lots of fun!

    Let's analyze your dreams

How about a sudden preparation of marriage with someone I know yet I don't know??

Do you buy, borrow or take out from the library?

I borrow most of my books from the library. I seldom buy them. I don't mind library books. Though it's nice to have a new, clean book once in a while, I let books make their own journey, and spread their pleasure to other people. :) On the rare occasions that I buy, it is because I've...

Re-reading-to do it, or not to do it

I agree with BookCat. To read once more gives an opportunity to explore those things that you overlook the first time round. And like Fae mentioned, the familiar feeling that accompanies rereading gives such pleasure you would want to snuggle and wander away with those characters. I do...

    Author: Most Read...

Oh yes, I read R.L. Stine lots too. Now that he's mentioned, I kind of miss reading his books. :p I should go and find them in the library!

    Let's analyze your dreams

I have to admit I've not read any Stephen King's novels as yet. But now I'm obliged to. So... To be explored: Stephen King it is! :D
