Read this after seeing it hyped in the Guardian
about a homeless in cambridge and how he comes to be the man he is
BUT it is written in reverse chronology so the story unfolds and we lear more about stuart as we travel back thru his life

loved it - great dialogue and characters. a nice fun read
some of the plotlines / eras / characters i preferred to other parts. i think the h&g relationship in the UK was my favourite but this carried you thru the other more minor bits. would...
he rolls out some joke argument tho...
some clever phrase
the aptness of the cliche is overshadowed by the nature of the saying as a cliche
im not sure he convinced
reading it almost finished. but must say im loving it.
the characters are strong and im finding it v evocative and informative.
reminds me a little of rohinton mistry style with its quite pedestrian, simplistic storytelling.
seems to be a lot of the author in it - he's a writer /...

When i was a youngstar I read a fairly disturbing book about these halfing type charcters than lived on the wandle
can anyone shed any light as to what the name of the boook might have been?
my girlf is a witch too ya see:
cackles a lot
parks up her broomstick outside
always being followed by cats and rats
and i thought id get her a SPELL book to complete the picture
does any1 know of any good ones
