Short Fiction: Anne and her stories

It's... nice. I think there's a lot more you could do with it, though. You could expand, talk about Anna's past before she became an old lady and perhaps find her younger voice. It sounds more like a prologue, to me. As a thing on its own it is quite dull though. That's why I say is nice...

I'd like to start Crime and Punishment again... I started reading it when I was 15 but got utterlyconfused who was who with all the damn russian names!!! I got confused, there was I thinking that there was one extra strange character and I got quite confuzled over him only to find he wasn't...

    Reading for knowledge through fiction

I think the Jamie and Claire series is a very good set of books to gain knowledge from -not so much from history I think, as although it follows some key points in history it is not enough to learn anything you might already know anyway. I think you can learn a lot more about the social life and...

What's wrong with the public library?

    - Silly Wabbit Ditto. That is one of the reasons I like buying. However now that I'm a student I must be sensible and I mUST LOOK AT THE LIBRARY. I have a library book out now but it's overdue ad I keep forgetting to take it back which is a bit of a bum. That is my problem with libraries -...

    Diana Wynne Jones

No I think Dogsbody was a one off. I'd like to read some more books by her as I think she's a fantastic children's author. I'd reccomend you the Dalemark series as I was totally enthralled when I read them.

Harry's Ordeals with ChoChang, is Hermione the one for Harry? *SPOILERS*

Maybe all her hints for Hermoine and Ron are just too obvious? Maybe Ron is just immatre about girls? Although I do hope they get together. I think Harry and Hermoine will always be great friends and probably very close, but as far as chemistry goes, I don't think there's anything. An Harry's...

    Samuel Pepys

Yes... I've been there. It is quite interesting but personally I prefer the books. There's a good 11 of them with a companion. Besides, they use the old Brayburn edition from Project Gutenburg and I want to read the more recent translation.

    Female Writers

I didn't find them that hard to get through, but I haven't read the last one - The Fiery Cross yet. It's bigger then a brick, it is boulder sized. I read the first four within two months... probably just over a month, instead of doing my revision. :)

    Samuel Pepys

Has anyone heard of this guy? I'm reading his biography and I have read a short collection of his diary entries and I really want to get my hands on Mathews and Lanthem's complete translation at some point. They don't have the complete set in the library and they cost a bit to buy. Anyway...
