    Mentioned already, but I love the first lines of Nineteen Eighty Four and Rebecca and my fave opening line ever is: Marley was dead to begin with. ~ A Christmas Carol, Dickens.

    Suggest just one book to read.

    I recommend Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier. It's a compelling read. Only wish I'd read it when I was younger.
