Mark, did you get to Wild Sheep Chase yet?
I read DDD over the weekend and can concur that you probably, well, almost certainly, wouldn't *get* it unless you'd read WSC first. I hope you do decide to give it another try after you've read WSC, or if not, at the least some things in DDD may...
Just finished Murakami's "Dance, Dance, Dance".
Always hard to find words to describe the experience of being totally immersed in one of his books, but I enjoyed it alot. Some nice references back to the previous "A Wild Sheep Chase" - this book is a sort-of-sequel and features some of the...
Me too, and I avoid them wherever possible, but I did make an exception for Peter Gabriel at Wembley Arena last year for the last two nights of the Still Growing Up tour. Second row tickets on the penultimate night, front row tickets on the last (!). Without a doubt the best show I've ever been...
Can't see too much in the way of discussion on here so far, but strangely enough I just re-started "The Rebel Angels" this morning. Something I've been meaning to get to for ages but keep getting sidetracked with other stuff...
So it'll be good to have a thread to post my thoughts to when I'm...
Just got done with Paul Auster's "The Book of Illusions".
Very, very good. He's a great storyteller. The "story within a story" aspect worked really well for me.
My first venture into Auster (I picked this up in the local charity shop for 50p, or some such stupidly cheap price) - so I...
Can't help with that one Dolz, since I haven't read it yet, but there's a Murakami thread over on the Author discussion board. Lots of talk about Norwegian Wood going on - you may be interested in it.

I concur too. Three cats here, so three times the silliness, three times the smiles.
One of my cats has started bringing me sticks. Go figure...
Congrats on the baby stuff :)
*desperately trying to think of something cool that's happened today, but failing*
It was - ok. I think I made a quick post about it on the "I just finished" thread last night.
I really like her style of writing (in this book) but, I found it started to get a little repetitive eventually. The story itself was pretty good but I found the ideas she expressed in it to be way...
Depends how much free time I have, but usually one novel, one short story collection that I dip in and out of, and a non-fic, again to pick up and put down. Also depends on how my concentration and/or attention span is at that particular moment, sometimes it's not great :(
Now is one of...
Just finished Margaret Atwood's "Surfacing".
I love the way she writes, but, the style can get a bit repetetive; in this book, at least. Maybe it's not her best example.
Interesting story though, and she puts forward some great ideas. Enjoyed it overall.
Ack, I feel your pain. The very same happened to me when I was about 19 - passed out drunk on someone's bed at some party, woke up in the middle of the night to find my best mate going at it with the owner of said bed. I did a pretty good job of pretending to be asleep until she yelled out his...
