At the moment, I'd say my favourite author is Haruki Murakami. I don't tend to read many books by the same author, but I've read three of his. I've yet to find a writer who I've really been compelled to go on to read his or her ouvre. Then again, I'm not the most prolific reader.

I found the book absolutely captivating. Sometimes the author gets carried away with her fancy words, but it was a cracking read all in all.

I don't mean to be disrepectful about the book because it has had almost unrivalled success - the Booker of Bookers and all that - but does it become easier to read? I'm not looking for a light read but after reading pages without understanding a single thing, it got a bit too much. Perhaps...

I thought "A Long Way Down" by Nick Hornby was a let-down. The characters aren't believable and I didn't actually care what happened to them.

I read Angela's Ashes about 2-3 years ago and I read 'Tis straight after. Don't remember much of it but it certainly was an eye-opener at the time.
