Finally saying Hi

Hi folks. I've been registered on here a few months but haven't posted my intro until now...

I'm Wisconsin born and raised, and despite my earlier dreams I've never lived anywhere else. But that's okay, not every bestselling book has to be set on the East Coast. ;) I'm a reader and an aspiring writer.

I sought out this forum because of an incident a few months ago. I post regularly on a forum devoted to my favorite NFL team. One day this spring a friend and I went to Madison, and at a Barnes & Noble there I found a deluxe hardcover edition of my favorite book, Stephen King's 'Salem's Lot. It was the sixth different copy of the book I purchased (albeit the only one that has the deleted scenes).

When I got back I started a post on the football forum, starting with the line "I did something really naughty in Madison." I took a lot of guff from the other posters there, since they thought when I said "naughty" I was going to go into a Penthouse Forum type thing about meeting up with a couple coeds. (Don't think my wife would appreciate that...)

So I thought I should try to find a forum where I could talk about books and not be the odd man out. So I did a Yahoo search for "book forum" and found... The Book Forum! (Though I see the name has changed.)

I just turned 30 to-day and am trying to make a resolution to write more. No more excuses!

As for reading, I enjoy horror, the James Bond series (though I'm taking my time with the John Gardner entries... ugh), some sci-fi, anything by Robert B. Parker and nonfiction, especially books about Robert Kennedy and pro football.

Hi Fenster. Happy Birthday!
