The Bipolar Hindrance

One of the main things that keeps me from doing any meaningful work is the fact that Manic Depression robs me of all of my concentration. You can’t life- without the ability to contrite. Reading ceases because concentration is lost – I would read a paragraph (sometimes I can capture two) before concentrations shots off like a light swift. It is pure frustration.

My doctor removed one of my vital meds and replaced it with, what he called the same formula, another one. All in life has halted, everything. Imagine your life without the ability to focus/concentrate. I have phoned the doctors and he seemed dumbstruck. I need my reading- my books.

While the meds are still screwy would books on CD work? Or does your concentration still go? Maybe short stories on CD?

Can't imagine how frustrating that's got to be. :( Would it help if you had a designated spot to read without a lot of stuff around, or classical music playing in the background? Hope that doesn't sound condescending, it's just what I've heard can help. Don't give up on the meds, I hope you find one that works better for you :)

That must be awful. I know that certain meds work for one but then not for another, or maybe it needs to be just the right combination. It's a very difficult balance to find. I hope your doctor switches you back to what was working.

Best wishes.

When reading is obviously a large part of your life,as it is for all of us on here,we maybe have an idea, tho' very small, how you feel,Aquablue. I hope your doctor is able to sort it out for you.

AquaBlue, how open are you to considering alternative health options? You know nutritional supplements and the like. The lady I work for owns several natural health based companies including the one I work for, a natural health expo. At the expo I've met and become good friends with Autumn Stringam. Her book A Promise of Hope is her journey through healing her bipolar naturally. I have her book, but haven't read it yet. Many of the people I work with have read it and have great things to say about it. I believe the book is available on CD as well. Many of our attendees call me requesting information about her book and products. She has even written an article for our magazine as well:blush:.

I hope this helps...
