    Should art reflect the world

I really like this question and it's quite valid. When I was younger, I loved reading Easter 1916 and look down on writings about the natural world. To me, it was vapid and just plain silly when "heavier" issues are present. Later on, I began to grasp that many poets by writing about the...

    Overrated Books

Yes, the "hate-hype" can be just as problematic as "OMG, this is great!-hype." Which is why it is important to take opinions with a grain of salt and read it for a final verdict.

The Syria Issue: Your Personal Stance Is Much Appreciated

O.K.-did you have to make me your avatar? Dude, not cool. ;) On a serious note, I believe there are a number of reputed chemical sites and military units. If they also took out armored units and air defense systems, the rebels would have more of a chance against the regime.

What are you listening to Right now?

Sparkchaser keeps sending me links to the new Miley Cyrus song. I listened to it once, not sure what the guy sees, but hey!, what do I know?...........not terrible........somewhat tolerable.........torture.

Shenanigans??? My turn!!! Another reason why I read books and don't have cable.....or even a t.v.

The Syria Issue: Your Personal Stance Is Much Appreciated

Prediction: U.S. ships launch tomahawk cruise missiles into key military sites. If one gets shot down, it's not like losing a pilot and risking a larger conflict. Obama will then declare that "something" has been done and that freedom has "won." Why do I think I'm "on" on this? Obama...

    Forum shenanigans

Very true, often times, "orchestration" is nothing more than a personality tick of always having to have the last word, badgering new members about their interests, causing them to ultimately leave, or either them or another member saying "I'm done" after simply refusing to let things...

    Off Grid, by Backwoods

You have the amazon link? All I can find are books about small gardens, solar panels, how to build wood cabins, and AR-15 modification kits.

Loud Evolution - An Action Novel

You got me curious-modenr day setting or back in the '60s? The post-colonial independence era is fascinating to study in that region.

Junot Diaz: The Brief And Wondrous Life Of Oscar Wao

Not a dinosaur, more of a pleistocene mammal if I were to classify myself. I have to say that this book was...well.....wonderful. I don't believe its greatness is truly appreciated, time will add to it surely. Having written a lot of papers about Trujillo in my pleistocene days, I have to...

Sammy Hagar and Joel Selvin: Red

Eddie Van Halen does come off in a very bad light in the book. The "re-union" tour was one of the memorable items in the book to read about. It is interesting how Michael Anthony and Sammy are best buds now. The only constant is change......

    Al Jazeera America Officially Launches

I suppose they will find a niche of people who they appeal to. We will know they will be fully "Americanized" when their stories morph into the scandalous court case of the summer, celebrity gossip, and anything related to Charlie Sheen.
