But I think that the highway and an A/C unit have this constant hum. A hum that you no longer notice. And the good stuff in novels happen when no one else is around ( :p )... it's still, it's night, no other human is up and about, they're all sleeping. But the dogs are up, and they can hear...
Pick up just about any novel and you'll find the phrase "somewhere a dog barked." - By Rosecrans Baldwin - Slate Magazine
I've only read a couple of these. Have you noticed this as well?
He probably doesn't mind that those movies are bad (because they're awesomely bad). He's in a lot of them! But I think he's more outspoken about The Shining since the movie itself & Kubrick are a big deal. Somewhere in this forum, I posted a Playboy interview where Stephen King goes into...

VERY funny! Thanks!
re: Under the Dome
Ugh. OMG. I want to badly. I just made myself finish Horns by Joe Hill super quickly to get it out of the way so I can prepare for this semester. It's super busy and horrible and just awful. Four classes, all paced...
I finished this earlier in the week. The whole time while I was reading, I was thinking, "I'm not sure if Paul [my boyfriend] will like it." I mean, it's not exactly horrifying (imo). But it was a great read. It's just very different and unexpected. I absolutely could not stop reading it...

re: Eden Lake
I love Dimension films. It sounds good, but it the likeness of Ils, Funny Games, The Strangers, etc. I like that. :)
I liked the original better (probably just because I saw it first). It was pretty damn good. The American one wasn't bad, just the same as the original.
Oh... I think we both know who. ;)

A week or two ago, I finished off reading all of Ira Levin's novels. I ended it by reading his last novel, Son of Rosemary...
My boyfriend and I read Hill's Heart Shaped Box last June and loved it. Spooky stuff.
Two chapters in to Horns, I told him, "You know what I like about Joe Hill? He doesn't f-ck around. He's like, 'Chapter One. Here's some really weird shit.'"
I'm only eight chapters in at the moment...
