Didn't like the movie "Devil's Advocate". Some of Pacino's worst. As for "Agent Provocateur", I have always been a fan of Foreigner, so I enjoy the album.
:D
Been a member of many forums, and I am even a moderator/co-founder of one. People like this are only trying to get attention...
The one that comes to my mind is actually a series. "The Monarchies of God" by Paul Kearney. It has a lot of great military and political intrigue. For a fantasy series, it is short. It consists of five books, yet all are just over 300 pages. The writing is very good, the story is very...
It might take me a few hours, but there is a good possibility my mother-in-law has it. She has been a subscribers for years and tries to keep them all. Of course her daughter takes after her in being a pac-rat as well. ;)
I have read a few by Loren D. Estleman's "Amos Walker" series. This was mostly due to the city they take place in. I have enjoyed them. I am not sure where they rank on the genre scale though, since I mostly only read sci-fi / fantasy until recently.
I usually get about an hour or two on weekdays, as long as my wife and I don't have other things planned. Then I get a good three to four hours on most weekends, again depending on our plans.
Lately though my reading time has shrunk considerably. We have been doing a lot of running around...
I have started talking about them quite a bit in the last couple of years. My brother-in-law (to be) has a lot of the same taste in books. Plus after a re-arrangement of desks at work, I sit next to someone that has the same tastes. Now some of us are starting a book club, though it involves...
Before I make my comment on Darcy Tucker, let me set a few things straight. I don't hate him as a player. I am a fan of a team in the Western Conference, so I have not seen his play disturb my team. I do however know quite a few Flyers' fans living here outside of Philly. I also know a...
I read the first trilogy of the series about two years ago. My opinion seems to be the same as the concensus; straddling the fence. There were things that I really liked about this series and things I didn't like. The world that Haydon created was quite fascinating. But at times it got...
Holy cripe ....... some of you have read more then 100?! I thought I was doing good with 39. Jeez, wish I had your reading time and/or ability to read so fast.
"Ship of Magic" - Robin Hobb
"The Curious Incident About a Dog in the Night-Time" - Mark Haddon
"Downriver" - Loren D. Estleman...
I love Leary, too. And I love hockey. Remember those commercials with Gretzky, saying he was leading the pass too far? :D
Anyway, good to hear some praise for this show. I have yet to see it, but hadn't heard any word on whether it was good or not. Gonna have to rent this and see what...
Welcome Celeste. I felt the same way when I came here. In just a month I have found out about so many good books just lurking around. It's a nice place.
By the way, nice avatar. I love Calvin and Hobbes. There is another Hobbes bounding around here somewhere. :)
I would add to the thoughts expressed about Peder. And I too felt very welcomed by Motokid, reminding me of the hockey thread. ;) But also to everyone so far. No one person has been that I have seen is outright acting rude or blasting anyone opinion.
Oh, and to anyone who likes Guy...
If you are a big baseball fan, I could recommend "Eight Men Out". It is a great look into just who was behind everything, and a great look at the history of this great game.
I am not a huge U2 fans, but gotta say that "The Unforgettable Fire" is one of the best albums I have ever heard. I have been posting about my favorites, being a big music fan. There is a high "weirdness" factor on that album that I really, really like. But that's the kind of music that...
