I enjoy both Hollywood and what you would call "foreign movies". Hollywood flicks are easier to access (prime time on TV, in the theatre, etc.), so I think I'm about 50/50.
Stewart, I actually enjoyed the original Taxi.
Thanks ions! I read The Handmaid's Tale when I was thirteen or something and I did like it, but I think maybe now I'll appreciate Atwood's writing in a different way.
I'm currently reading Oryx & Crake myself and it's really hard to stay away from the spoilers right now. I'm enjoying it so far, so I may be looking into Atwood some more after this.
I just love watching these shows. I´ve seen the Flemish, British and American versions of it and I must say I like the American show best. People are much more interesting in that show, I think. Lots of yelling and such. ;)
Oh, that´s good to know.
I read Pillars when I was 14 and while I don´t remember every little thing about this book, I remember I really liked it. Maybe I should read it again and see how it holds up now.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who was ever drawn to a book because they knew the author through something "unliterary". For example, Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie, who became relatively famous through comedy shows (Jeeves and Wooster, A Bit of Fry and Laurie, etc. and their roles in BlackAdder...
I do think it's the kind of book you can forget easily when you put it down. I mean, I enjoy myself while I'm reading it, but so far, it hasn't been very plot-driven... It's just a bunch of anecdotes thrown together. They're enjoyable, but you don't feel as if you just have to continue reading...
I think the thread is just right were it is.
I for one am not really fond of powerpoint. I have a few professors who use it, but they never use the program creatively, so it doesn't really add anything to a lecture. I think it can indeed be a useful tool (not just powerpoint, any program like...
We only have a small patch of North Sea here, so it's not really an issue.
My sister and I did decide to swim to England once when we were younger only to have the coast guard tell us to get back: I guess in hindsight that was good advice, but at the time we were mad because now we'd never...
What exactly is the difference between a deodorant and an antiperspirant? I use Axe myself and am very happy with it. (I tried all kinds of brands and smells before settling on this. Damn my armpits!)
I know some women that don't shave. They just go to a beautician and have it removed once a...
I'm currently reading A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers. Some other TBF members have already read it or have expressed an interest in reading it, so maybe a discussion would be nice.
I'm having fun reading it myself, but I've only made it as far as chapter V, so...
