I'll have to check the Lemonisnicket books. We have read a few all about type books, but I didn't want to overdo her on nonfiction. I gravitated to those at the beginning, because I knew they wouldn't be childish.
1. They're getting more common
2. The price is too high, I usually go online and buy it used or get it from the library. I do like them to read, just not the price.
3. If its one of my top three authors, then I will buy it, but I look for the mass market paperback first.
Yes, yes, and yes. I totally agree with you on this one. I was definitely very much disappointed. However, I've heard his new one, Going Postal is WAY better than MR (how can it not be?).
Zooie, I picked up a "Cat Who.." book, but have yet to get to it. Most cozies are definitely light reading, but good if you just want a bit of a rest before bed. I'll have to give it a try.
Irene, thanks for the suggestion. I'll have to look up Murder Ink...sounds like a great resource...
I'm thinking the Lizzy Macquire might be too difficult...ditto for Little House on the Prarie (though they're both great suggestions). I'll have to look into the others. Its difficult to search through books to find ones she can read and will be interested in!
Oh, sorry. I didn't think about that. My student is 12 years old. Fourth grade corresponds to 8-9 years old. I want something on her reading level, but that would also be interesting to her. Its hard to find high-interest books for 12 y/o at a 8 y/o reading level.
Any other cozy mystery fans out there? (You know, the ones without blood and guts).
