celestial matters: richard garfinkle
set in a ptolemaic universe with both science and history and greek mythology involved. interesting from a historical perspective.
alternate history/alternate science novel.
I met daniel handler. And he signed my book. He also accused me of treason and practicing witchcraft(as a joke of course, he came on halloween and I was dressed up).
and i loved the last boook!!
i do realize that twilight is a typical vampire romance-y novel, but it's still very captivating, a very interesting story, and I could really relate to bella and her love of books and being good at school. I'm getting new moon from the library tommorow.
I'm jealous of you people who get books as presents. My mom has no idea what to get me so i have to put out a list of books i want, meaning I don't get any books that i didn't ask for as 'recommendations'. I end up with clothes and gift cards.
You're making me remember everything I read in 2006? Ouch.
1.Celestial Matters by Richard Garfinkle (sci fi set in a ptolemaic universe)
2.Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
3.Eugene Onegin-Pushkin
4.The HIstorian-Elizabeth Kostova (although I didn't like the ending much, the book was a good...
Jane Austen, definately
While Elizabeth Kostova has a great story and great writing, she drags it out too much.
Meg Cabot, a light and entertaining read.
J.K.Rowling, I'm surprised she hasn't appeared in this thread yet.
Libba Bray, I actually remember reading her book on a class trip and...
it kind of is interesting, then gets dull, then interesting again. don't try to read only that book and nothing else at the same time, you'll just give up.
wow, who are you giving Les Miserables to? I'm trying to get throught it, but the book weighs about 5 pounds. It's taking me a while, because I try to read about 20 pages a day(I can't exactly lug it around everywhere. It's not The Count of Monte Cristo).
I asked at borders and they told me the book's coming out july 7. i preordered it alrady. they loolked at me like i was crazy. I had to patiently explained that i'm obsessed with harry potter.
terry brooks?
i've decided to read terry brooks.
however, i don't know which books to start with. and i know he's written quite a lot of quartets, most about shannara. does it matter what order you read those in?
thanks in advance for your help!! sorry if this is in the wrong section.
How old is the kid you bought eragon/eldest for? just out of curiosity.
I have very strong opinions about those books, but i'll refrain from giving a rant.
