I think that books always seem more interesting when you have to stop reading them, such as when you have to sleep. if you had plenty of time to read the book, it wouldn't seem as interesting.
when i reread books, i reread dearly loved books because i simply need to calm down or because i'm overly emotional. i simply read my favorite scenes from books i enjoy(mostly fantasy and alexandre dumas).
to tell the truth, all his books have pretty much the same plot: someone gets murdered, then you have to unravel a mystery while trying not to get murdered and seeing lots of people get murdered, and then you save the world.
i read this book just because I found it on my shelf, and although it only got interesting towards the end, I'd still have to say it's better then Pigs in Heaven, which is the only other book i've read by Kingslover. Of course i'm hopeless at noticing parallels so I didn't notice any, like the...
well, i'd have to agree with whoever said umbridge, and harry does annoy me too. But then so do both ministers of magic, snape, wormtail and voldemort.
in books other then harry potter: one of my favorite series is The bartimaeus trilogy. However, nathaniel/john mandrake, the main character...
well, i get a big stack of books from the library and read them and renew them until i finish them and kinda forget about the books underad on my shelf until the summer. Also if i don't have time to read during the day, I read at night. A lot more books get done that way. But i have so many...
i stay up really late reading and read at night because i start reading and i jsut can't put the book down! for some reason, the books i read get a lot more interesting at night, when i have to go to bed so i end up reading pretty late. this spring, i stayed up pretty late (2-ish) and read a lot...
I've been to 3 book signings and unless the author is someone like J.K.Rowling or something(which is unlikely), the author usually doesn't mind taking pictures and talking to fans. and yep, it's fine to bring the old work of an author. The store will probably have a gazzillion copies of their...
well, i personally can't write a thriller because it requires too much thinking and plot twisting, which i'm terrible yet. I'd like to write fantasy, but i'd hate it if my book ended up as "another sci fi/fantasy book" like all the others that are in any bookstore's humongous sci-fi/fantasy...
yeah, Donna Rose, i know what you mean. when i was reading The Man in the Iron Mask i was on the couch, and i kinda suspected so I kinda half expected it, but i still started bawling. I had to walk around the house. then when i finished the book I had to go take a walk and force myself to calm...
have any books made you cry? which ones?
(spoiler warning!!)
I recently finished The Main in the Iron Mask, by Alexandre Dumas(the last part of 10 years after) and for those of you that have read it
i also cried at the end of harry potter 6 when
and when i was really little, i...
hmmm...
try other dan brown books. Angels and Demons, etc....going to a bookstore and browsing really does help. I've read a few books such as the Other Boleyn Girl, etc....try something like The birth of Venus by Sarah Dunant, girl with a pearl earring by tracy chevalier
for me, it depends on the book. for example, if i'm reading something like Jane Austen or Charles Dickens, or something like Shakespeare, i need quite to concentrate(background music is fine, just not anything very loud). however, any book that doesn't contain orld and difficult language i can...
