I'm not a big fan of biographies. I'm always put on edge by the attempts to make an actor look and sound like somebody so legendary that their looks and voice are trademarks. I thought this movie was pretty good though. The only thing that REALLY put me on edge was listening to Phoenix sing...
Homer Gets His Wings
I made this film in 2001. I'd say, it's pretty unusual. I'd go so far as to say, you've NEVER seen anything quite like this. Check it out.
(NO ANIMALS WERE HARMED DURING THE FILMING OF THIS MOVIE!)

As I said...
Earth Abides - George R. Stewart.
It's usually mentioned in post-apocalyptic threads, however, the themes of nature and man's relationship with it are omni-present in the book. Extremely thoughtfull treatments of population cycles of different species (including humans) and the "natural" state...
I'm into book III now. I like each one exponentially more than its predecessor. This one - The Wastelands - is the best yet (in case you couldn't work that out from my last sentence!). I sort of wish I could read something else, though. But I'm in it for the long haul (and long it is!).
A yuppie takes his brand new Porsche 911 Turbo out for a spin. He's stopped at a light when this old coot pulls up alongside on a moped. He leans over to say something so the yuppie rolls down his window.
"Hey, that's some car, sonny!"
"You bet, gramps. Just got it and it was $120,000. It...
I'm not really sure what you mean.
Do you mean hearing what you are reading in your mind, or do you mean mouthing the words that you are reading?
If it's the first, I don't see a problem, unless it's slowing down your reading and you want to read faster. I always hear what I'm reading (or...
Chase is a bank. It's a huge bank. It used to be Chase Manhattan, now it's J.P.Morgan Chase bank.
The links look legit, but they're not. If you hover your mouse over them (DON'T CLICK - JUST HOVER) you'll see the acutal fraudalent site they are linking you to.
I greatly enjoyed The Da Vinci Code. I must admit that after about 2/3 of the way through, I started to tire of the madcap antics - even if the main characters didn't.
I don't agree. The female character was integral to the plot, solved many of the puzzle elements, was strong and smart, and...
Well, I guess people that are always doing unexplicable things that others can't understand, like reading instead of watching sports.
I kid you not - not a single comment. True, I don't run into that many people at work (1). And going and coming, I had my overcoat on.
I did go out for dinner...
double nickels
I made this and wore it today:
Not surprisingly, nobody asked me what it meant. I'm not surprised because people hardly ever understand the weird things I do, and have stopped asking me about them.
Of course, they're regular, normal, average people. Not at all like all of...
Yes!!
exists - that is the best example of that combination yet.
After the start of the word, a relatively simple sound - egg, we have to say - ZISS-ST-TSSSS.
The technical name for these essss sounds: voiceless alveolar sibilant.
That's a mouthful in itself!
I've read much of Steinbeck's work. My opinion ranges from SUPERB to feh.
My favorite of all is Travels With Charlie. I didn't see that one mentioned in the thread, although, I have't read the whole thread. It may be one of his lesser known works, though. This book is unusual for Steinbeck...
Wow - a couple of strange ones there.
I agree that dreams are "postcards from the soul". I think we act in dreams the way we may like to act withouth the bounds of societal rules, guilt, and concience. Not to suggest, ValkyrieRaven88, that you would really like to knife someone. Can't take...
Thank you, friends.
Double Nickles today (55).
Have to work today, but tomorrow's weather forcast sounds good, and it looks like "opening day" at the steps of the Metropolitan Museum.
I always found it interesting that some simple, common words have very complicated phonetic combinations.
Case in point: contexts.
Say that word aloud, and notice how in the second half of the word, your tongue and breath do some gymnastics. It's like...
con TEK-SSS-TSSS
The word priests...
