Granted: But you cook for unappreciative children for the rest of your life.
(Which is very evil if you've ever done so. It's tear-inspiring, honest.)
I wish I had more books to read.
I'm excited on three counts. The first is that the movie itself sounds completely and totally awesome on so many counts that I can't begin to express. The second: I'm a history geek and need say no more. The third is, shallow I am, that Gerard Butler is going to be in it. Once I saw Phantom...
It's easy to get confused if you try the more recent ones first. But no, it's not always important. Just start with the first book in a particular series of the books and move on from there. I would recommend starting out with the ones that take place nearer to the trilogy for sanity's sake...
I always found it difficult to mix up plots. I'm pretty good at keeping them straight for some reason. The plots stay pretty clear for several years in my mind.
I look at the title/cover, read the synopsis, then open it and check the first paragraph. If that interests me enough, I flip to somewhere in the middle of the book to check that things will remain interesting. If I have them, I also consider recommendations from other people. Then, if all...
...you know, are you sure it wasn't the Chronicles of Narnia? The first book in the series is called the Magician's Nephew, and I don't remember anything about TV's, but the kids had to jump through pools to get to different worlds.
I do that quite often. I don't feel like continuing reading the nonfiction book I was doing right now, so I moved on to other things temporarily. I'll go back to the Dracula book when I feel like it. I almost always finish books. The only times I haven't have mostly been when I was borrowing...
Personally, I thought we learned enough about his childhood in Hannibal to understand why he is the way he is...
Still, at some point in the future I will probably read this book. I'm rather fond of Hannibal Lecter.
I'm sure she will. Hasn't there typically been only 1-2 years between books? I'm pretty sure that's right. Someone who keeps track of the book release dates might have to confirm that for me.
I think the writers that have influenced me are:
1. Ray Bradbury. He always wrote what he imagined, and although his writing could get dark, his imagination was large and child-like, which made his stories so enchanting.
2. Laurell K. Hamliton. Although I don't care for the way her...
I was rather fond of Matilda, Danny the Champion of the World, and the BFG--especially the latter. I haven't read it in years but I still remember all of the main points.
I do this quite a bit, and I always have. I'm known to read four or more books at the same time. I can't remember the last time I wasn't reading more than one book. At the moment I'm reading three.
