Oh my God, there is no need to post pictures like that whatsoever. Sure, it happens, but most of us consider it sick to seek out pictures like that and post them for other people to view.
Not sure why I didn't immediately think of this author's website, since I hang around there more than I do in this website.
www.kelleyarmstrong.com
This author is fantastic in her attitude and reaction to her fans. She has recently completed her third novella in as many years, which is...
Ah, but I go there for the info provided on his progress on A Feast for Crows and the links page, which is comprehensive.
Although I prefer a website to look pretty and not interfere with my info-gathering, to me the info provided is paramount.
I quite like George R R Martin's www.georgerrmartin.com
Robin Hobb's official site is not fantastic.
Considering her writing isn't so hot, Sara Douglass (Australian fantasy writer) has a pretty decent site.
Chocolate........always chocolate!
But this morning, especially those chocolate brownies produced by M&Ms that have lots of chocolate M&Ms scattered on the top. It's just pure chocolate heaven :-)
Cathy C,
I'm a Brit and I happen to agree 100% with what you're saying! And I'm not offended about all the stuff that's wrong or whatever with the book - to me, that's just being a complete snob!! I never read books and concern myself with what is accurate and what isn't. I always suspend my...
Haven't you ever heard that reading is escapism? Some people read purely to be entertained, not to have to think about it, and Dan Brown's books fit the criteria superbly. His books are much like going to see a summer blockbuster at the movies - you know you'll see every plot twist; you know the...
I've read George RR Martin's Song of Ice and Fire series (as far as it's been published - 3 books out, with a possible further 3) and it is a stunning read. I personally enjoyed it far far more than Tolkien - it's gritty and realistic (as far as you can get reading fantasy). He's not afraid to...
Okay, so I'm really tempted by this guy's books!
What's the Baroque Cycle like for all those who have read it? Who could he be compared to?
What is Crytonim..emxnd (whatever it is!) like?
For me, it depends on the book. Kiddies books take me a couple of hours. Chick lit fiction takes me a day at most. Fantasy books take me longer - say, 2-3 days. The best effort I've put in was completing 600 pages in five hours :) .
I'm always read fast - I can't seem to prevent myself, even...
Actually, I'm a boring accountant :D . So I shouldn't be able to sell anything! In fact, I should be telling you not to buy it because of the high cost of purchasing a hardback book :p
A belated sell, Martin - it isn't fantasy... Sure, it has magicians and faerie in it. But the writing itself makes this not a fantasy book. It's a little like Gaiman (in that it's dark and scary in parts); the language reminds me a lot of Dickens or Austen - certainly classics-era; the story is...
Just finished! What a page-turner towards the end! I absolutely loved this book and would recommend to all - right now, there are a number of cheaper copies for sale on ebay, so I'd prompt you to get one. Then set aside a few days where you don't have anything much to do - because you will end...
Well Maggy, my sister says you have appaling taste.
That's the lovely thing about there being a *lot* of books - everyone's taste is catered for. I'm sure I wouldn't think a great deal of your sister's taste neither!!
I would agree that, in most cases, it would be silly to respond to what the fans write. I mean, the Internet tends to represent a very small minority of the people who actually read an author's books.
However, some of the so-called 'reviews' did not even touch on the nature of the book...
