Hi audreybee
I've got this book on my 'to read list' let me know what you think of it.
I've just started 'Telegram from Guernica' by Nicholas Rankin
Cabrasopa
Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold.
I heard so much about this book but i'm afraid for me it didn't live up to the hype.
The story was a good idea and well written but there was something missing.
Never mind on to the next one.

How about.....
Not the End of the World by Geraldine McCaughrean
The book is a story about Noah and his family and what it would really be like on the Ark with all the Claustrophobic tensions, practical problems, even the smell with all the animals on board.
Cabrasopa
I heard good reviews on two new books
A Short History of Tractors in Ukranian - Marina Lewycka
A wise, tender and deeply funny novel about families, the healing of old wounds, the trials and consolations of old age and - really - about the legacy of Europe's history over the last fifty...
I've just watched a book review TV program and they discussed a book called

I used to keep self made bookmarks (quite a few years ago now) in which i would write down every book i read on it. At the end of the year i would date them and start a new one.
I had quite a collection but have somehow over the years lost them.
Maybe i'll start again

I'll read anything about or set in spain, i'm particularlty interestested in the Spanish Civil War (see beginning of thread)
I do read a lot of fiction though, so any recommendations gratefully accepted.
As for Spanish writers i've not read many. (again recommendations please!!)...
I have not read the book but, according to some reviewers and to quotes from the book in the review, it should read like a work of fiction. Some of the anecdotes never happened.
Maybe they did , maybe they didn't, but you can say the same about a lot of so called true accounts, even...
Just finished this book, an excellent read .
Having a spanish family and playing the guitar myself (badly) i thought it caught the mood of Spain,it's music and it's people brilliantly, with a good insight into Gypsy life. I've been to many of the places he mentions in the book, Granada is...
Duende by Jason Webster.
Really enjoyed it, a great insight into the Spanish Flamenco culture and the search for 'Duende' which is the emotional state you find yourself in when immersed in the Music and dance.
Having a Spanish family (hence my username) and playing the guitar myself helped to...
Still can't beat the small sidestreet bookshops, especially second hand shops where bargains can always be found.
Of the Bigger shops i prefer the one's that only sell books, i cannot stand bookshops that sell videos,cd's, cards, drawing sets, etc etc.

How about Never Hit a Jellyfish with a Spade by Guy Browning.
Someone at work had this and it caught my eye, started to read bits of it, very funny

Just finished replying to another thread about 'Barry Trotter' brought back bad memories of 'Bored of the rings' - Harvard lampoon, truly awful.
