I read Jade Green when I was younger and it scared me for days. I couldn't sleep. It was morning and I was still paranoid about crazy severed hands crawling around.
I haven't read any horror since :p
It was a decent book. I don't think I'd ever read it again, though. The information she gave was interesting, but the story wasn't exactly satisfying, especially the ending. Ah well.
I normally only go to the book store when I've got a certain title in mind. Although, if I am feeling down, a good look through the book store will bring my spirits up.
I normally go to the library though.
The most annoying character in the history of books is Ms. Umbridge, that horrible woman from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I hated that woman, fictional or not, but it did get a lot of anger and emotion out of me. Annoying characters are a good thing, but only if they are...
Seriously. I can maybe understand banning something like Women on Top, but come on, Where's Waldo? You look at a book and find some guy in a striped red t-shirt. If that causes emotional damage to a kid, then I don't know what doesn't.
It was definitely an odd movie. To be honest, I was completely bored with the movie until the ending, when everything seemed to explode. It makes you think, but I doubt I'd ever watch it again.
Fight Club
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
Fantasia
Catch Me if you Can
I'm surprised at how many people put down Fight Club! I just got it at Target for 10 dollars. Excellent movie. I recommend the book too, both...
I think that with page turners, the author is giving up the ability to make the reader really sit down and think about what has been written. There isn't really anything very philosophical in a fast moving plot. I guess it all depends on what kind of reader you are, or what type of book mood...
I think it's a bit odd that parents would try to shield kids from certain books. Being a teenager, I know that the moment someone tells you that you can't read a book because it's banned, you will want to read it. In fact, we even had a school assignment where we got a list of banned books...
I currently love the author Chuck Palahniuk. His writing style is very unique and I love the dark humor. He's the kind of author where you finish the book and think: "Where does he come up with this stuff?" Very excellent.
I also like Jane Austen. I was a bit skeptic at first, since I'm not...
For some reason I didn't really enjoy the book. It started out fine, but then it seemed to drag on and on. The ending was not satisfying at all, and I was a bit dissappointed. People keep telling me that Angels and Demons is a lot better, so I'll probably try that. Maybe Dan Brown will redeem...
I'll read anything that seems a little gory, a little disturbing, a little weird, and very interesting. I've got an odd sense of humor, and I need something freaky to satisfy it. I also like books with lots of sarcasm and dark humor.
