    Shocking poems & short stories

Oh my...Edward Arlington Robinson's Richard Cory is amazing, SFG75. After reading that, I'd have to say that it's the most shocking by far.

    Scariest Book Ever?

I read Jade Green when I was younger and it scared me for days. I couldn't sleep. It was morning and I was still paranoid about crazy severed hands crawling around. I haven't read any horror since :p

    Elizabeth Kostova: The Historian

It was a decent book. I don't think I'd ever read it again, though. The information she gave was interesting, but the story wasn't exactly satisfying, especially the ending. Ah well.

    The Best Character in Fiction?

Nice list! I don't normally read non-fiction, but I've been wanting to get into it. I'll be checking out some of these titles soon. :)

Suggestions: September 2006 Book of the Month **"Banned Books" Only**

I'll say Lady Chatterley's Lover by D H Lawrence. I love reading banned books.

    what's your book shopping process?

I normally only go to the book store when I've got a certain title in mind. Although, if I am feeling down, a good look through the book store will bring my spirits up. I normally go to the library though.

    Annoying Characters

The most annoying character in the history of books is Ms. Umbridge, that horrible woman from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I hated that woman, fictional or not, but it did get a lot of anger and emotion out of me. Annoying characters are a good thing, but only if they are...

    Top 100 Challenged Books 1990-2000

Ok, I found this little snippet about Where's Waldo... You can view the whole article here. How do people notice that? Seriously.

    Top 100 Challenged Books 1990-2000

Seriously. I can maybe understand banning something like Women on Top, but come on, Where's Waldo? You look at a book and find some guy in a striped red t-shirt. If that causes emotional damage to a kid, then I don't know what doesn't.

    Dan Brown

Exactly! There are so many great books that go unnoticed. It's a tragedy.

    Match Point (Woody Allen)

It was definitely an odd movie. To be honest, I was completely bored with the movie until the ending, when everything seemed to explode. It makes you think, but I doubt I'd ever watch it again.

Movies you could watch a thousand times

Fight Club Monty Python and the Holy Grail Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory Fantasia Catch Me if you Can I'm surprised at how many people put down Fight Club! I just got it at Target for 10 dollars. Excellent movie. I recommend the book too, both...

    Page Turners

I think that with page turners, the author is giving up the ability to make the reader really sit down and think about what has been written. There isn't really anything very philosophical in a fast moving plot. I guess it all depends on what kind of reader you are, or what type of book mood...

    Top 100 Challenged Books 1990-2000

I think it's a bit odd that parents would try to shield kids from certain books. Being a teenager, I know that the moment someone tells you that you can't read a book because it's banned, you will want to read it. In fact, we even had a school assignment where we got a list of banned books...

Who is your favourite author, and why?

I currently love the author Chuck Palahniuk. His writing style is very unique and I love the dark humor. He's the kind of author where you finish the book and think: "Where does he come up with this stuff?" Very excellent. I also like Jane Austen. I was a bit skeptic at first, since I'm not...

Dan Brown: The Da Vinci Code

For some reason I didn't really enjoy the book. It started out fine, but then it seemed to drag on and on. The ending was not satisfying at all, and I was a bit dissappointed. People keep telling me that Angels and Demons is a lot better, so I'll probably try that. Maybe Dan Brown will redeem...

    what's your favorite genre?

I'll read anything that seems a little gory, a little disturbing, a little weird, and very interesting. I've got an odd sense of humor, and I need something freaky to satisfy it. I also like books with lots of sarcasm and dark humor.
