What book do you hate but everybody else loves?

Well, if I hate something, I rarely get past the front page. There is one I finished ...The Time Traveler's Wife ... Ugh! Nothing more than a bloody romance. I thought it was dreadful. The people who recommended it went down in my estimation. The DaVinci Code is slagged off by a great many...

    Enid Blyton

You'll get them on amazon surely? I loved them, my kids didn't. My favourites were the circus trilogy. They weren't her biggies, but running away to join a circus ... Who wouldn't, apart from John Major, who ran away from a circus to be an accountant:confused: And a prime minister:eek...

What's wrong with the public library?

Well, I love libraries. Really, really love them. Librarians are helpful, and friendly, and do all they can to help. If they haven't got the book, they buy it for you, only charging £1. Lovely, lovely libraries:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

    Kurt Vonnegut

Well, I don't think much of him. Hay(some no.) and I are the only non-believers then? I read Cat's Cradle, it was just OK. Could NOT read that short story collection with bamboo in the title, and gave up on Sirens of Titan about a quarter way in. I'd have thought it was mainly men who...

    How do you get rid?

What do you do with books you don't want anymore? I'd like to think most of us keep them, intending to ........ (insert own ideas).... There comes a time though, when they have to go. I can't bin them. What's best, amazon, ebay, other?

Gary Glitter in trouble in Vietnam

Well, on the news yesterday, it said he was accused of having sex with two girls aged twelve. There is no cure for his addiction. nor for any pedophile's addiction. Yet they keep being released. The firing squad's too kind. Much better to castrate him and keep him in prison as a sex toy...

    J.T. Leroy

I wouldn't slag anyone off until I'd made my own impressions. I hadn't heard of him, just picked the book up at random. I found out after reading, on google. I don't know why I felt disapointed about the ending. It seemed too far fetched I suppose.

Have any of you read him? I've just read 'the heart is deceitful above all things'. I couldn't put it down. But then felt a bit disapointed. Any of you read his first book 'Sarah'?

Books I own but haven't read yet

I read the first page, then either chuck the book or pile it with the rest for 'later' I don't think I've read any though. Do you not even read the front page? I love Charles Bukowski, I've read all his novels and short stories. You'll either love him or hate him, find out by...

err, hi,(very shy and quietly)anyone there?

Any of you anti-smoking lobbyists? Well clear off then! I've been addicted since is was legal, encouraged and affordable. So, have some pity. I read a lot, I've read a lot. I hope to continue to do so. Hoping this is a good place to find tips on what's a good read. :)...

    Laugh Out Loud Funny

I'm so glad Vintagewhino has mentioned Charles Bukowski. I found 'Women' his worst book. Good, but nothing like as good as Post Office, Factotum and most of his others. Sue Townsend, all of hers, except Ghost Children. Her one serious book.:( 'Re-Building Coventry' is one of her funniest...
