Well here is two things that would helt the site a lot.
An active admin that visits the site.
Keeping the frontpage updated so it doesnt look deserted with 3 year old "news".
Dont know about best, but the singer from the Swans (M.Gira) wrote a book called the Consumer. Its certainly very dark, sexual and violent.
Its a collection of short stories that probably first what you are looking for. To be extra depressed you should listen to their music while reading it.
So what, two studio albums are more than enough to make an impact. I still listen to Joy Division, but cant really be arsed with Oasis.
I'm not american and those bands are pretty shit.
No because Nirvana made a huge impact especially with their second album. And Kurt was still alive and...
I have seen a couple of his shows but he only seems to invite guests to yell at them and call them names(unless they agree with Bill ofcourse). Reminds me a lot of Jerry Springer, and seem to have about the same amount of substance.
Nirvana has still made a much bigger impact on popular music than Oasis will ever do. Picking the best band of the last 30 years is always somewhat subjective but Oasis would not even reach my top 10 list if i bothered to write one.
It depends on how its done.
One of my favourite books is "Against the grain" and it can be seen as just one very long description of a house. Yet its never dull. Descritions can say a lot about the story and characters.
I love Dead Souls too. But if one of the criteria is finding a book that can generate a lot of discussion i'd have to go with Fathers and Sons as well out of those books I have read from the list.
The Dark Tower by Stephen King (re-read)
- I read the first two many years ago but havent read the rest after he finished the series. I liked it but i cant remember much of it. I might reread and finish the series one day but i got too many other books i want to read first.
