i just read "A Secret Atlas" by Michael A. Stackpole, a brand new Fantasy Novel about a voyage taken by map-makers to chart unknown waters. There is magic, monsters and adventure aplenty.
Anyone else think that the gang should try to go after the Gregg/Jenn duo? No "women only" alliance is going to hold water while those 2 stay together. I'm beginning to believe that they will be the final 2 while they sit back and watch the rest of the tribe pick each other off.
I feel that names in Fantasy Novels are generally meant to be exotic, but I agree that it's not necessary to go overboard with barely pronouncable names. As a reader I don't want to have to work too hard. I recently read a Fantasy book where the main character's name is Matthew. Names like...
Mrs. Sell Sword loves the Ladies Detective Agency and has read the entire series. And since she has such great taste in men ;) , I figure she must have great taste in books as well!!!

A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin
Book 1 - A Game of Thrones
Book 2 - A Clash of Kings
Book 3 - A Storm of Swords
Book 4 - A Feast For Crows
Runelords by David...
I read the first 2 so far and plan on continuing. I think they are definitely a cut above average. I also read the Tears of Artamon books and enjoyed them as well.
My 7-year old son and I started reading The Fran That Time Forgot. We love the Franny books by James (Jim) K. Benton:
Lunch Walks Among Us
Attack of the 50-Foot Cupid
The Invisible Fran
Frantastic Voyage (12/2005)
I recommend them for children in the 7-10 year-old range. Very funny with...
