I always complained when my mom would plop me in front of the tube and force me to watch it when I was a kid, but the truth is that I really liked it :o
The drug-dealing neighbor and his 3rd "ho" in the 2 years he was there packed up in the middle of the night and bolted a few months ago. The new neighbors are quiet (so far anyway). Someone broke into the house shortly after they left, perhaps he thought they may have left some product behind...
I read this series (known as The Wayfarer Redemption in the USA) and enjoyed it, all except for the ending when Faraday turns into a deer (?) and runs away "unfettered". What was up with that nonsense? Anyway, I read Sinner (the 1st book in a new trilogy) last year and Sara Douglass redeemed...

Thank the Creator!!! The last few Wheel of Time books were none too enjoyable, too much focus on minor characters and too many minor subplots being introduced.
What I like about the Malazan novels (I've only read books 1 & 2 so far) is that they are UNIQUE. The only thing I can compare them to would be the Black Company novels by Glen Cook.
The books aren't character-driven in the typical Fantasy-cliche vein, rather the characters are swept up in...
