    Suggestions: January 2005

I was really impressed with Memoirs of a Geisha. I read it last year and had trouble putting it down. I know I would enjoy reading it again.

    Agatha Christie: The Hollow

I have read most of her books. My favorites - Ten Little Indians and The Murder of Roger Ackroyd (I'm not sure about this last name). I have never been able to tell you who committed the murder. The only Poirot novel I did not like was Curtain. I don't want to ruin it for you. I just...

    Dean Koontz

I don't believe you can just put him in one category. I think the scariest one of his I read was "Anxiety" (I believe that is what it was called), and it was not supernatural. I have read most of his books. "Odd Thomas" I bought but have not read.

    Truman Capote

I read "In Cold Blood". It was good, but Truman Capote was never one of my favorite writers. After I read "In Cold Blood", oddly enough, I met the family who were murdered paper boy, who delivered their paper that morning. Very Eerie.

    Bios of the stars

The one I found funny was written by George Burns about he and his wife, Gracie Allen (I cannot think of the same of the book). She was a real character.

people that can't read in cars>>>WIMPS?

Well, I can read in cars and have done it for years. Of course, the dumbest thing I have seen is people (not many, thank goodness) who are trying to read while their driving.

    Desert Island books

The Bible - No matter how often I read it, I still have questions. A book on ventriloquism - so I could talk to myself in another voice. Gone With the Wind - Not only is it my favorite book, but the title might bring me some luck. The Girl Scout Handbook No Man is an Island A...

    Advice on Children's Books

I had a reading problem when I was in third grade. But when I discovered Nancy Drew mysteries, I finally began to enjoy reading and improved. There used to be a series of books called "All About" - All About Dinasaurs (Sp), All About Astrology, etc., so you were learning something while you...

    The Strangest Film Ever

Freaks I had read about this film in a book by Stephen King. Last year, at Halloween, they played the movie on TV. Although it was very strange, it did show what people with disabilities could do simple things like lighting a cigarette when you have no arms or legs.

    Most scary?

At first, I was going to say "Misery". Then I remembered trying to read "Helter Skelter" by myself. I finally did read it. I think it was horrifying because it really happened.

    Cozy Mysteries

How about Tony Hillerman - he writes about crimes committed on an indian reservation and has two native american officers. The other one I would recommend is Nevada Barr. She works for the National Park Service, and all her books take place in various parks. Its really neat when you have...

What do you do with a book you've read?

A friend of mine at work is trying to start a library for the office, so I have books for her. The ones I give away usually I am not going to read again. I have to say moving is also a pain for me - I have five bookcases full and some of them double booked. Now, the bad thing is that I...

Where do you go for "new authors"?

Sometimes I will go to thrift stores and pick out arthurs who are new to me. I have had a lot of success this way because you don't spend that much money. I have also bought some brand new books this way.

    Tell us your ghost story...

Here is one I told a friend of mine at work - A girl friend, Madeline, and I used to play in a woods near her home. One day we were walking down this dirt road and heard this loud buzzing sound. We just continued on our way, not thinking it important. That evening police cars were in the...

    Wish List

I've read 1984 and Brave New World sometime ago, and they are worth reading. I base my wish list on a bunch of authors who have a new book out at least once a year. Right now, nothing much is out so I am reading classics.

    driving or cars

My car's name is Oz. Its a blue green Thunderbird. I always wear seatbelt because their automatic, and I have no choice. When I buy gas for the car, I just buy gas, no cleaning windows (usually I am in a hurry). I don't keep any condiments in my car. Although right now since I'm moving, I...

I read "Truman" and really enjoyed the book. Right now, I just finished struggling through Walden by Henry David Thoreau. I was always curious about the book. Never read it in school.
