hm.. well genres do certainly organize a story/library well. i just stick to the fiction section. i dont really gravitate toward sci-fi since most of the time i dont like imagining a new world/appearance. yeh, i'm lazy like that. altho i have read some great sci-fi books before. shame i can't...
yeh i know what you mean. i know a girl who's one step away from creating an alter for kurt cobain, so i'm certainly not like that.. but the book definatly did make me angry about his death and changed my opinion about him. i'm glad i read it
i'd love to come across a book that scared me that badly. it's the main reason i started reading books by Stephen King a few weeks ago.
i'll be sure to check out Hostage to the Devil by Father Malachi Martin then =P
i've certainly stopped watching documentarys on the history channel...
i've read plenty of books with sex in them. my sister's bones had kind of a graphic oral sex scene. it surprised me.
i suppose the question is, would you rather have your kids read about it, watch it, or hear about in school. sex is unavoidable
i prefer closed. i've read books where the killer is basically announced in the first chapter [ie: lovely bones] but still really liked the book. a closed mystery just grips my attention span more
i never got past the first page.
the first 15 pages of On the Road by Jack Keroauc disappointed me. i'm going to give it another shot, but i guess i was expecting it to grip me right away.
i'm 16 and in the 250+ posts i made so far, none of them were about a book for a school assignment. granted, i'm not taking an english course this semester. nonetheless, i'm better off reading the book and skimming sparknotes
i've never thrown out books. you're better off giving them to a library or some sort of charity than just your garbage bin.
plus, i suppose its similar to how i am at a resturant. if the foods crappy, most of the time i'll still eat it since i'm paying. [unless its completely unbearable]
i generally buy a new copy just b/c i can't find any used books in my area. i wish i could, it'd certainly save me a lot of money.
i actually like the condition of worn books. they're more "homey" if that makes sense. i love the cracks in the spine and worn corners. i used to hate it, but the...
i dont like bending the corners in even tho it was a habit i picked up from my 3rd grade teacher when i was younger. i stick with post its, altho i do get kind of annoyed when they lose their sticky-ness.
those satin ribbons are convienant, even tho not surprising that they're not used anymore...
