    eXistenZ

I've read some about it and although Criterion editions are freaking expensive and I already own a copy of the movie Videdrome, if I ever buy a criterion movie it'll be Videodrome.

    eXistenZ

If you liked eXistenZ then I recommend Videdrome which has a similar theme. It also happens to be one of my favourite movies.

    SECOND HAND vs BRAND NEW

With fresh books you usually don't have to speculate what stains originate from. But the cheaper price is usually worth it in my opinion. P.S. Borak is very funny.

    Pick One...

I pick "Fahrenheit 451". I'm not very fond of "The Catcher in the Rye" or "Animal Farm" and "Lord of the Flies" range between quite nice to so so to me.

Who wants to see the hobbit?

I'm not a big fan of "The Hobbit" but I wouldn't mind a movie adaptation but only if it wasn't directed by Peter Jackson. I wasn't very fond of the Hollywood style and computer effects in the trilogy. I don't know if it's already been done but the best thing would probably be to animate it like...

    Second hand bookshops

There are several second hand book shops around where I live but the books are cheaper at general second hand shops, salvation army and et cetera. The most recent second hand book I purchased was "On the Beach" by Nevil Shute. The library is great but the public transport in Stockholm can...

    Interesting New Music

The following aren't really obscure since they're popular in their genres but I'll mention them anyway. Industrial EBM: :Wumpscut:, Das Ich, Skinny Puppy Neo Folk: Der Blutharsch, Death in June, Blood Axis The following Synth pop(ish) bands might be more obscure: Birmingham 6, Clair...

    Yes! Finally!

Welcome to the forums. Is "disutopia" another word for dystopia? I'm a big fan of the dystopia genre and I also like the post-disaster genre where civilisation has fallen.

Old Christmas Threads (gifts, well wishes, etc)

You don't have to go on a shopping spree or even accept presents. You can choose not to choose "christmas" (it would be nice with a english word that didn't suggest religous meaning). Personally I use this holiday to push books.

Changeable headed woman, wheelfeet and lunchboxes

The woman with interchangeable heads is in the movie "Return to Oz" which is the movie sequel to '"The Wizard Oz". The IMDb trivia states the following: The Movie is based on the second and thrid Oz books: "The Land of Oz" and "Ozma of Oz". Elements from the former include the introduction of...

The 100 Most Frequently Challenged Books of 1990–2001

What exactly does "challenged" mean? Is it efforts to remove them from stores and libraries? It always surprises me to see one of my favourite youth novels "The Chocolate War" on the top of these lists. It's hardly a happy novel but I doubt that it promotes mob mentality.

Arkadij Strugatskij, Boris Strugatskij: Monday Begins On Sunday

A programmer from Leningrad meets up with an odd bunch that hire him for a research institute for magic. Many beings and objects from fairytales and legends are mixed in this book. It didn't entertain me in the first part of the book since it felt as they had been included just for the sake...

    Author Websites

Chuck Palahniuk Attractive website with an active forum. Johan Norberg Mainly a blog which makes it more interesting but there's also enough information about the author and his books. I think that forums is appreciated by the readers since they can discuss the book with others that...
