A programmer from Leningrad meets up with an odd bunch that hire him for a research institute for magic.

Many beings and objects from fairytales and legends are mixed in this book. It didn't entertain me in the first part of the book since it felt as they had been included just for the sake of it. Another reason to why it didn't entertain me might have been because I wasn't familiar with all of them but the Swedish translation that I read explained some fairytales from Russia in the introduction at least.

The real pleasure for me begun with the second part of the book at the research institute for magic. The "bureaucracy" and excentric researchers there takes the comedy of the story to a whole different level of absurdness.
