    I just finished reading...

Wow. I also just finished reading a book - by Irwing Stone, on Michelangelo: "Agony & Ecstasy". Re-reading really, as I've read it at 20. I am not sure everybody would love it, but I liked it very much. That's a real historical book, with loads of real material used by the author to tell...

    Hello from Russia!

Eh, I've seen a "Mr. Pitkin" film, but only two years ago or so. They were not available in 70-80es here, (at least not for a common audience) I'm sure. Because of content. I never liked much histories of starved people, thievs in prisons, people beaten because they are different from the...

No, it wouldn't do: look at peoples' profiles: almost everybody likes The Guide (look at me - I am one). Can't remember Homer or Chaucer there... But they have to fit there in The BOOK as well, as customers must know they are buying a real thing: all the literature wisdom included.

Wow, it seems I know now how to earn a billion in no time... The book OF ALL BOOKS! Short version of ALL LITERATURE! Imagine a book which includes War & Peace, HHGTTG and Mao's "little red book" all together with every imaginable other source... I think 100 pages would not be toooo much... Or...

Hi guys. As it happens I've written lots of heavenly verses when I'd been eighteen or so. Now after that was mentioned, I am ready to offer any of my works for reading, and, errr, reviewing. Let's call it... OK, 10 pounds a verse? Please send me money, and I'll arrange immediate delivery...

    Hello from Russia!

Yehhhh, let me see... Dickens for sure. Bradbury with his 451F, we had a great radio play based upon 451F, with the steel dog rouming the sreets... Hugo... But only pieces - about Gavrosh, for example... Oooops, that not an English one... The idea was to show that life in the West is unjust and...

    Tragedy in London

Too bad such a madness exists. It is unforgivable that some kill innocent people for political reasons.

Sorry, your advice needed... (Second try)

As it is known, Moscow (Russia) is not the best place to buy the latest books in English. It also happens to be the place where I live. And in 3 days I plan to be in London. So would you care to suggest the best 10 books I should buy during my stay there? I mean the latest books, of course...

    Hello from Russia!

Yep, exactly the same with me. Completing a good reading I always hope to be able to reread the book sometime, or just to take it from a shelf and look through. So I use these e-books only for reading in metro, or on a plane... You may not believe it, but it seems quite harmonious when they...

    Should fireworks be outlawed?

Hey, Moto, come here, we have NO restrictions on fireworks. And even if we had - if you wouldn't seriously oppose our beloved President Mr. Putin - you can have your fireworks to all the ends you prefer. We use them on New Year usually - then all the neighbourhood comes crazy and a week or...

Torture - What is it? What's acceptable in 2005?

So, in principle it is exactly the same as in civil life: when ordered to do something you think wrong, you have two alternatives: to do as ordered, and get promoted, etc., or to disobey, and suffer for it. As far as I can look in history, it is full of both examples. So in the end it is simple...

    Hello from Russia!

That's the same one in Russian: Гуляет ветер, порхает снег. Идут двенадцать человек. Винтовок черные ремни, Кругом - огни, огни, огни... В зубах - цыгарка, примят картуз, На спину б надо бубновый туз! ..... Свобода, свобода, Эх, эх, без...

Torture - What is it? What's acceptable in 2005?

Wow... You are wrong here, sorry. The war has laws. I have mentioned them before. Please read the Geneve Convention materials - I believe that must be there. If a military person deliberately kills a civilian, a POW, etc. - he gets court martialed. We have a general officer (or was that a...
