As it is known, Moscow (Russia) is not the best place to buy the latest books in English.
It also happens to be the place where I live.
And in 3 days I plan to be in London. So would you care to suggest the best 10 books I should buy during my stay there? I mean the latest books, of course. "THREE Musketeers" and "Alice in Wonderland" could be great advice, but I already have them in my library for all of my life, it seems...

I recommend 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time' by Mark Haddon if you haven't read it already. I think it's fairly recent. I'm not sure that's what you're looking for but I've got the impression that most people regardless of what they usually read can enjoy it unless you dislike things that are popular and hyped for the sake of it.

OK, Wolhay, thanks.
I read different books, and I intended to get exactly what you offered - advice on the book one liked.
Thanks again.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/arts/pageturners/book_listings.shtml contains a list of books featured on a recent BBC book club type programme, you'll need to look them up on amazon to get the details. I did see one of the programmes and The Kite Runner looked very interesting.

contains the shortlist for last years booker prize, the premier prize for fiction in Britain, a lot of people seem to rate "Cloud Atlas" from this list very highly, although I've not read it myself.

Thanks Kenny!

I'll check. And I've already bought "Cloud Atlas" here on my last attack through the Moscow bookshops...

I say get Life of Pi by Yann Martel if you haven't already, or Secret History by Donna Tartt (I'm just shooting in the dark here, Sergo, coz I don't really know what you like). They are not exactly new, but in case you haven't got them.

If you're feeling adventurous, I say pick up either Lions of Al-Rassan or Tigana from Guy Gavriel Kay, and I'll see you in a subforum here in TBF which I've not seen you in before (relax, it's not romance). They are not new either, but if you haven't got them, and you don't mind trying, pick these up.
