LOL 'round here the DM reigns supreme. If he has house rules it's fine. But then again - the DMs I know here are well aware the a DM with unhappy players usually don't have players for very long ;) It's the natural order of things hehe

Hmmm, a few quick reads that I enjoyed a lot was Amelia Atwater-Rhodes' Demon in my View and In the Forests of the Night.
They're short, fairly simple, and nowhere near as 'advanced' a Anne Rice's masterpieces, but they're good and entertaining. It took me only a few hours to read 'Demon', so...
