Anyone watching the series???? I've been watching it and find it pretty entertaining, though not as good as the Band of Brothers. The action scenes are some of the best, but I'm not really a war film buff so others may not agree. Some of the scenes seem like something out of a video game by the...
Thanks everyone, I've been writing these recommendations down and plan to look into all of the books. The Lighting Theif will probably be the first one I pick up. I actually recently bought Hoot and my soon is looking forward to reading it. Again, thanks everyone.
Anyone read anything from the Fiction issue???? I read Amanda Brigg's peice along with TC Boyles, look forward to reading the rest when I have time. Anyone else read anything?? Thoughts, comments....
Over the weekend my sister-in-law was talking about the books, she's read most of them, and I got to thinking, eventhough I've never read the books (so its not fair to assume) this may be one of the series that the film version is as satisfying as the book, or at least I can say I am fully...
You live in one of my favorite places too, I got married in Maui in 2007 and was lucky enough to spend ten days there. We stayed in Kanapali then in Hana. My wife has visited several times, and lived there for a year.
My wife has read and enjoyed the first couple; she hasn't read past whats aired on television. The manead plot was extreme; I'm glad she's gone. I really liked Godrich, even though he played a fairly minor role (yet he was mentioned a lot) I think his philosophy was redeeming.
Thanks....when I was a kid I loved reading Greek mythology. My son is what I would consider to be pretty mature, but certainly not a young adult. He's got an average intelligence, does well at school and has a curious nature; not the type of kid who's going to be reading the Illiad over the...
I read the book a few years ago and really enjoyed it. I like the way Krakauer weaves his books between story/information. I've read some of his other stuff, and the stories are always intriguing alone, but I really appreciate the time he takes to educate his reader about the topic related to...
I would like to continue to support my son's efforts to read. So far, he has read and really enjoyed the Diary of a Wimpy Kid. He also was into Magic Treehouse and now he's reading some of the Goosebump Series. I would like to help him get into reading some books that are somewhat educational...
Any fans here???? Season three will start soon....can't wait.
I gotta say, I haven't followed a tv series in years, since i was a teen, but this show has me and my wife hooked; every sunday I tune in for True Blood. I really like the characters and feel the format allows for a lot of room to...
Diary of a Wimpy Kid...I took my son for his bday the other day. He really liked the book series and the movie was a good adaptation. Pretty good family movie, had some funny parts...but $50 for a family trip to the movies:confused:
My favorite bookstore, that's easy. I buy most of my books used at local library book fairs. At $2 or less per book, you can't beat the price. You'd be suprised how many people have good taste in books.....
I'm new to the forum, so I thought I'd introduce myself. I look forward to discussing books and getting recommendations. I live by the Cape Cod Canal in MA. I'm married and have two kids. Most of my life I enjoyed reading, though did not really begin to read novels until college. The first book...
