    One first book

No offence but someone who'd never read a book before wouldn't get more than 3 pages into M&M. This isn't to say that all you say about it isn't right, just maybe a little tough for first time out. For me this has to be a childrens book, that can be appreciated by adults too. You can't go wrong...

    Laugh Out Loud Funny

Back to the point for a mo, histerical reads must include Kinski Uncut, by legendary german actor Klaus Kinski. A monumentally obscene, crazed diatribe of fruitcakeism. If you enjoy every second word being f**k and every other page some demented sexual encounter this is the book for you.

    good omens and hitchhiker's guide

You've got me wrong, I'm not dissing it. All I'm saying is that Douglas Adams was very much involved with the BBC at the time and the books came after the Radio series and (I think) concurrently with the TV show therefore there should be no problem putting it up on a movie screen. But it's that...

    good omens and hitchhiker's guide

Hmmm, it could work... HHG was originally a Radio play (scripts available now). Then a tremendous BBC TV production and I think the books came out at the same time as this. The TV series is a classic, if dated in that BBC way, GENUINE papier mache sets, men in rubber suits - remember this is...

    Changes in film adaptations

Like you I hope the nonsence changes above don't happen, but films in general are viewed by a public seeking escapism and fun and downbeat endings just don't get bums on seats. eg. Dancer in the Dark. And big money epics need the final uplifting scene so word of mouth doesn't affect the box...

Iain Banks or Iain M. Banks?

Which 'Banks' do you prefer? Personally I've never really been able to get along with his fiction side but love his sci-fi stuff. So it's the M. Banks for me.
