LOL! Good point.
Like in all things, as individuals, readers have their own likes, dislikes and perspectives in what they think warrants praise or censure and most of all brings them reading pleasure. Within the genre of heroic high fantasy to me Tolkien sits pretty close to the top rung of...
Unfortunately the lizard came to an untimely end at the paws...or more correctly the teeth...owned by one of my cats not long after I took the shot.
We leave the drop bear photography to the tourists. ;)
It seems to be more and more acceptable for the English language to be butchered or bastardised; such as irregardless and (ugh!) redonkulous...two words I hate hearing or reading more than 'no'.
Though I have read the Chronicles of Narnia series several times I'm not much of a fan of the books or--this may be blasphemous to some--even C.S. Lewis. It's LOTR and Tolkien for me. Lord of the Rings and Tolkien’s other works (The Silmarillion aside...that was a yawn fest) read less like...
My apologies if this posted in the incorrect place.

I shall never understand why Follet's writing has received so much acclamation. But then who am I to criticise when my own...
Reviewing the swag of books I borrowed from the library today I noticed that they were trending to a slight dystopian society literary bent; this coupled with a news article I read earlier this evening about an organised book burn, Mein Kampf and The Communist Manifesto being two of the book...
The Worm Ouroboros by Eric Rücker Eddison. The grandaddy of the heroic fantasy novel. I found it a bit of a slog, but appreciated the genre the novel gave birth to.
Being a newbie I never had the opportunity of getting to know you on any level, Carlos, but for what it is worth it is a little sad to see any forum, especially one that has little traffic, reduced by one...and a long time poster to boot.
Happy trails, Carlos.
I began to feel heartedly ashamed of myself as I started to read through the replies to my question of whether people posted whilst working...By the grace of sparkchaser and Will my shame was dimmed by a shade or two. :p
As I work in an ICU I don't indulge whilst on the job so-to-speak; the...
